«Sewage remains in puddles»: residents of a high-rise building in Mykolaiv are flooded with sewage for a week

In Mykolaiv, residents of a high-rise building on 16 Heroiv Ukrainy Avenue complain that four apartments on the first floor of the building have been flooded with sewage for a week.

With such a message, a resident of one of the apartments turned to the contact center of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The woman complained to the management company «City for People», whose emergency service, according to residents, was called more than 5 times. The company assured the residents of the house that the sewers were clogged with wet napkins.

«The last time the residents and I went down to the basement together with the plumbers and watched them clean the sewers. I did not see a single napkin there», — the appeal reads.

Instead, the residents of the house are sure that this situation arose because of the small diameter of the sewer pipes.

«The pipe is cast iron, from the time of the USSR, it is completely clogged inside. A metal cable for cleaning the sewer entered with difficulty. During peak hours, in the morning and in the evening, the sewage system does not work and gets clogged, despite the fact that half of the apartments are empty and no one lives there», — the woman wrote.

In addition, the resident of the house noted that the sewage system in the basement of the house had rotted. According to her, «there are puddles of sewage» under the house, which is why the first floor of the house has a strong smell of sewage.

«This is a mockery of people. It is simply impossible to live in apartments on the first floor, you can't even remove this stench with bleach», — says the appeal.

We will remind you that recently in Mykolaiv, the owners of apartments in the building at 28 Myru Avenue complained about sewage leakage since 2022. They assured that sewage is already flowing into the entrance, which is why there is a terrible stench there.

At that time, the company «City for People» responded to the complaints of Mykolaiv residents about the leaking sewage system. «CFP» noted that such a situation has arisen due to the fact that the residents of the high-rise building are clogging the sewer wells. Cleaning of the system is carried out by the Mykolaivvodokanal utility company.

Also in Mykolaiv, the owners of private garages on Hospitalnaya Street complain about the regular leakage of sewage from overcrowded manholes. Every day around 9 a.m., water with impurities and feminine hygiene products from the City Hospital is discharged from the manholes in the garages No.1, which is located nearby.

In addition, residents of the Ternivka microdistrict recently complained about sanitation vehicles that pour sewage into landings and sewer hatches, instead of the places officially designated for this purpose.

Earlier, in Novyy Buh, local residents were outraged by the inaction of the authorities and the utility company «Dobrobut», which still have not identified an official place for sewage disposal. Locals noticed how sanitation vehicles poured smelly waste into the manhole of a non-working sewage network near the city council.

Previously, «Mykolaivvodokanal» complained that the townspeople throw into the toilets what should be in the trash.

It was also reported that in the center of Mykolaiv, cafe workers poured sewage into the storm drain.
