The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission reported that it had documented 376 cases of war-related sexual violence in Ukraine.
These data were recorded from the beginning of the full-scale invasion until August 31 of this year.
According to the UN, more than half of the victims were men, 262 cases. Most of them were tortured in captivity in the occupied territories of Ukraine or in Russia. Among the injured were also 104 women, ten minor girls and two boys.
The organization noted that war-related sexual violence is a violation of international law.
«Preventing this kind of violence and bringing the perpetrators to justice is a joint responsibility based on the obligations of states in the field of human rights. Victims of sexual violence need comprehensive support for recovery, including support from society in general,» the UN said.
It will be recalled that the law enforcement officers identified and reported suspicion to a serviceman of the Russian army who, during the occupation of the Kherson region, raped a minor girl.
