The Central Court of Mykolaiv has remanded in custody a 49-year-old local resident suspected of disseminating information about the location of the Ukrainian military.
According to the court's press service, according to the case file, the woman, on her own initiative, disseminated information on the movement and location of the Ukrainian military on the Telegram channel. She also shared information about the general situation in the city, in particular, regarding mobilisation. The suspect used insulting and derogatory epithets against the military, common among Russian propagandists.
In turn, the prosecutor's office stressed that the suspect had pro-Russian views and there was a risk of her absconding or committing new offences.
Instead, the woman assured that she was not going to flee, and explained her actions by her emotional state. Her lawyer stated that the suspicion was justified, but the risks were overstated, as she had allegedly changed her views and was cooperating with the investigation. The defence requested that she be placed under house arrest or bail be set.
However, Judge Ivan Dirko ruled to take the suspect into custody without the right to be released on bail.
Earlier, the Central District Court of Mykolaiv imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention without bail on a 45-year-old local resident suspected of high treason.
