During March 2024, 604 people died in Ukraine due to Russian attacks, of which 57 were children. This is 20% more than in February.
This was reported by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
It is noted that the reasons for the increase in the number of dead civilians are mainly attacks by the Russian military using missiles and ammunition, as well as an increase in the number of aerial bombardments near the contact line.
In addition, 57 children were killed or injured in March, which is twice as many as in February. As noted in the mission report, this is a consequence of the increased use of guided and unguided aerial bombs by the Russians.
Thus, 28 people were injured by mines and explosive objects, 7 of them are farmers, for whom the risk has increased due to the beginning of the agricultural season, the report notes.
In general, the largest number of casualties among the civilian population (93.5%), destruction of educational and medical facilities (98%) and critical infrastructure (95%) were recorded in the free territory of Ukraine, the report concluded.
We will remind that almost 5 thousand children living in Mykolaiv Oblast received the status of war victims.
