The Novyi Buh City Council plans to appeal to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine and the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, requesting that the community be included in the list of potential combat zones. The Novyi Buh community had already held this status until 31 March 2026, but lost it following an update to the list.

This was discussed during a meeting of the Novyi Buh City Council’s budget committee on 22 July, according to NikVesti.

As rapporteur Yuliia Shevchenko explained, the community’s reinstatement on the list of territories subject to potential hostilities will enable residents to benefit from the social and economic safeguards provided for by law.

«The adoption of this decision is of the utmost importance. The inclusion of our community in the list of territories subject to possible hostilities will enable us to protect the social and economic rights of residents and to benefit from all the privileges and services provided for under current legislation,» she said.

Mayor Maksym Lahodienko pointed out that Novyi Buh is still feeling the effects of the full-scale war.

«The town has also suffered from Russian aggression; there have been casualties. Unfortunately, the war is ongoing; there is destruction, and there are internally displaced persons and people in need of support. This status provides many benefits to the population living within the community, including businesses currently operating in this area,» said Maksym Lahodienko.

Following the discussion, members of the budget committee supported submitting the draft appeal for consideration at the next session of the city council.

Previously, the Bashtanka City Council had appealed to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine and to Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration. The councillors are asking that Bashtanka not be excluded from the list of territories where hostilities may occur.
