In Mykolaiv, there are plans to change the traffic regulations on a section of 7th Slobidska Street. Illustrative photo: NikVestiIn Mykolaiv, plans are in place to change the traffic organisation on certain sections of streets.
The relevant changes are set out in a draft decision by the executive committee, published on the Mykolaiv City Council website, according to NikVesti.
This concerns the section of 7th Slobidska Street from the junction with Ihor Bedzai Street to Pohranychna Street. The resolution states that the current state of maintenance and structural parameters of this section do not meet the regulatory requirements for the category «residential street of local importance».
Pending the reconstruction of the street and its brought into line with national building regulations, the section will be temporarily designated as a «through road in a residential area», which will mean a significantly slower traffic regime prioritising pedestrian safety. Appropriate road signs are also to be installed there.
Separately, the speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/h on sections of two streets across the city:
- on Nahirna Street near house №85;
- on Kvitneva Street near house №62.
The document states that the restrictions will remain in place until these streets have been reconstructed and safe conditions for pedestrians have been established.
The changes were made in response to requests from members of the Mykolaiv City Council and members of the public, as well as on the basis of a road inspection report dated 26 August.
The municipal specialised installation and maintenance company must commission traffic management plans and coordinate them with the Patrol Police Department in the Mykolaiv region. The company must then install the relevant road signs and other technical traffic control measures.
The relevant amendments are to be considered by members of the Executive Committee at a meeting.
As a reminder, in September, traffic was completely closed on the section of 7 Slobidska Street — from Poрranнchna to Kovalska. The road is being resurfaced there. Resurfacing work is currently underway on this section.
It was also reported that Mykolaiv plans to temporarily allow two-way traffic on a section of Spaska Street, where restrictions are currently in place. This is intended to ensure unhindered access for public transport to a facility serving people with disabilities.
