In Mykolaiv, dismantled temporary structures may be handed over to the military or disposed of if their owners do not collect their property within six months and pay compensation for the dismantling.

This was announced by Mykolaiv’s chief architect, Yevhen Poliakov, during a briefing on 27 October, according to NikVesti.

According to him, as of October 2026, 111 temporary structures had been dismantled in the city.

The grounds for dismantling included requests via the city’s contact centre, complaints from residents, as well as requests from law enforcement agencies and businesses, for instance, where such structures were hindering utility services from carrying out repair work within their remit.

However, one of the current problems is the storage of the dismantled structures, as there is insufficient space in the city to store them.

«In the summer, we adopted a regulatory act that will help resolve this issue regarding the storage of these structures, as there is no longer any space where this can be done safely. We have adopted a decision stipulating that if, within six months, the relevant parties do not come forward to collect these structures and pay compensation, they become the property of the party that carried out the dismantling. And they can be recycled, sent to a landfill site or handed over to the military,» explained Yevhen Poliakov.

It should be noted that, in total, 188 such temporary structures have already been dismantled in Mykolaiv since 2025.
