Today, December 7, a shelter was opened in one of Mykolaiv gymnasiums. Now 250 students will be able to study offline. The project was implemented with the support of the charitable organization SavED and KFC Ukraine.
This was reported by the NikVesti correspondent.
As the press service of the organization notes, this is the first of several planned shelters that will be created in the frontline regions.
According to the mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkevych, the shelter is designed for 250 people, which will allow the school to organize training in two shifts.
«Today we were invited to the opening of another shelter in one of Mykolaiv schools. This shelter took place thanks to the cooperation of the Mykolaiv City Council and savED. They found funding through the famous global brand KFC, which helped us make this shelter so that children can learn here safely. We thank you for this work, that business is involved in the safety of children. This is not the first and, I hope, not the last shelter. We are already planning two more, and in the near future we will also open them,» he said.
In turn, the director of the gymnasium, Andrii Apostolov, noted that the shelter was set up in two months.
«Thanks to our sponsors — an international fast food chain, a charitable foundation, the city council and the Department of Education — we created a shelter in two months. Its area is 250 meters and it can accommodate 200 children and staff. There is lighting, a reverse osmosis system that produces up to 2 cubic meters of clean drinking water, as well as three exits for evacuation,» he said.
The director also emphasized the importance of creating a safe space for children:
«It is the children's dream to study together, because during the three years of the war, the biggest problem is the lack of socialization. Studying in a team will allow children to communicate, listen to the teacher live, ask questions and be part of the community.»
