Mykolaiv plans to allocate ₴16.2 billion to education in 2025-2027

The Mykolaiv City Council is going to allocate 16.2 billion hryvnias for the implementation of the «Education» program for 2025-2027, 10.3 billion are planned to be allocated from the city budget. The amount of funding for the program is twice the previous budget for education in 2022-2024, which amounted to 8.6 billion hryvnias.

The draft decision on the preliminary consideration of the program was also published on the website of the Mykolaiv City Council, NikVesti writes.

Financing of kindergartens

It is planned to spend 5.4 billion hryvnias to support the functioning of kindergartens, including the provision of food for children. This amount also includes the restoration of kindergarten No. 75 after major renovation.

Secondary education

6.6 billion hryvnias have been earmarked for ensuring proper conditions for the work of schools. These funds are planned to be spent on the organization of transportation of students to schools, the purchase of school buses, discounted travel for schoolchildren in public transport and food. The financing will also cover the creation of an educational environment for the implementation of the Concept of the New Ukrainian School, which includes material and technical support for the educational process.

Extracurricular education

434.9 million hryvnias are planned for the development of extracurricular education in Mykolaiv. The funds will be used to create groups for children with special educational needs and ensure their participation in festivals, exhibitions and other mass events.

Professional and preliminary education

1.2 billion hryvnias will be allocated to support professional and professional pre-higher education. This will ensure the development of institutions that train personnel in professional specialties.

Safe learning conditions and social protection

1.7 billion hryvnias have been earmarked for the creation of safe conditions for education, medical care and social protection for children of privileged categories. These funds are planned to be used to provide schools with medicines, antiseptics, disinfectants, as well as fire safety. In addition, school and sports uniforms will be provided to orphans, current repairs of educational institutions, as well as provision of shelters in schools. An important part of the funding will be the provision of remedial and developmental classes for children with special needs.

Material and technical support

It is planned to allocate 342.8 million hryvnias to improve the material and technical base of schools. This includes the purchase of technological equipment, computers, office equipment, furniture and energy meters.

The draft program states that the reconstruction and construction of educational institutions affected by the actions of the Russian Federation are planned to be financed within the framework of the city's economic and social development program.

We would like to remind you that there are 31 secondary education institutions in Mykolaiv in full-time/mixed format. Another 11 educational institutions plan to work part-time/mixed after the completion of repair work in shelters and buildings.

On the other hand, only 22 of 73 preschool educational institutions are functioning in Mykolaiv today, in which 5,046 children study. They have already finished repairing the shelter in another kindergarten, it should be operational in the near future. Work continues in another 14 kindergartens.

It was also possible to organize an offline educational process in Ochakiv near the front. There is a mixed form of education.

According to the monitoring of the Department of Education of the Mykolaiv City Council, 65% of schoolchildren want to study full-time.
