This week, cemeteries in Mykolaiv will be checked for explosive devices.
This was announced during an open staff meeting on Monday, 2 March, by the mayor's adviser, Oleksandr Herasymenia, according to NikVesti.
In total, according to him, during the inspection of Mykolaiv, 29 areas with explosive devices were found, both in public places and on the territory of enterprises.
«Based on the results of the survey of the city for explosive substances, 29 areas were identified that require further demining. They are located both in public places and on the territory of enterprises. All areas are marked, so, taking advantage of the presence of the media, I would like to ask residents not to damage the markings in the form of signs and not to enter these areas,» said Oleksandr Herasymenia.

«In addition, given that the holidays are coming soon and residents will be visiting cemeteries, intensive measures are being taken this week to survey cemeteries for the presence of explosive substances. As of January 2026, pyrotechnicians from the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region have destroyed more than 31,000 explosive devices since the start of the full-scale invasion. According to information from the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region, sappers have cleared a total area of 12,226 hectares, working both manually and with mechanised equipment. A total of 14,961 pyrotechnicians were involved in the operations.
Recently, in the Mykolaiv region, police bomb disposal experts found and defused the warhead of a Russian drone that did not detonate after falling. At the scene, bomb disposal experts found parts of a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle shot down by the Ukrainian Defence Forces with a warhead that did not explode during the fall.
Since the ammunition posed a real threat to human life and health, the police decided to defuse it by means of a controlled explosion.
