On July 6, the «Music and Flowers» festival dedicated to Kupala Night took place in Peremohy Park in Mykolaiv.
NikVesti writes about it.
The event was the result of cooperation between Mykolaiv musicians and the «Tereka» flower gallery. According to one of the organizers of the festival, the idea arose after their concert, which was visited by representatives of the flower gallery. They offered to join forces to hold a joint event, which was carried out on July 6.
The festival included not only traditional elements of the Kupala Night holiday, but also modern musical numbers. The band «Radio stars» performed in an acoustic format, and performers from New Odesa came with a program of folk dances and songs. A craft fair was also held, where guests could see and buy handmade products, as well as take part in master classes.
Entrance to the concert was free, in the Free Donation format, which the organizers introduced a year and a half ago. Visitors could make voluntary donations for military needs and cultural projects. As of the evening of July 6, 14 thousand 163 hryvnias were collected for the military and 9 thousand 372 hryvnias for cultural projects. A bouquet from «Terika» was also sold at the auction for 4,500 hryvnias, and the largest donation was 1,000 hryvnias.
Volodymyr Aleksieiev noted that the main goal of such events is to support the city and its residents. In the conditions of proximity to the front-line zone, it is important to organize cultural events so that the residents of Mykolaiv can enjoy life and have a place to relax, regardless of financial capabilities.
«All this was carried out without a single penny of budget funds. This is exclusively our initiative, we do it for the city. The funds we collected today may seem small or too much to some, but our military appreciates it. We are used to having many people come to us and are grateful for that. We try to make our product high-quality and, apparently, people appreciate and love it. And, well, the main goal is that we support the city. Because, well, a lot of people say that Mykolaiv is bad. Where we don't have water, where there is no light, everyone leaves. We are close, we are in the front-line zone, there. But we hold cultural events in order to show that Mykolaiv is alive, so that there is somewhere to go. So that you don't have to go to Odesa, Kyiv or Lviv, but you can go somewhere in Mykolaiv for the weekend. It doesn't matter how much you earn — 6 thousand a month, or 8, or 150. You can come and relax at your own discretion, on your own budget. And to do something useful,» said Volodymyr Aleksieiev.
A special highlight of the festival were numerous flower locations and wreaths that could be purchased and photographed with them. At the end of the evening, the people of Mykolaiv launched these wreaths into the water.
