Reducing the age of mobilization is not an option: «We have a demographic hole»

There is no discussion in the Verkhovna Rada regarding another lowering of the age for mobilization, although questions about it are coming from partners. They explain that people younger than 25 will rebuild the country.

The first vice-speaker of the parliament Oleksandr Korniienko said this on the air of Radio NV, hromadske writes.

He noted that the Verkhovna Rada only recently banned the mobilization of people younger than 25, who were previously limited in their eligibility. They could be mobilized due to inconsistency in legislation.

Oleksandr Kornienko says that against this background, it is «difficult to imagine» a discussion about lowering the mobilization age below 25 years. At the same time, this discussion — «not conditions, not blackmail, but just a question» — exists among partners who ask why such people are not mobilized in Ukraine.

According to the vice-speaker, he explained that the demographic situation in Ukraine is different from that of other countries, which «once upon a time» during other wars mobilized young people.

«We explain that we have a demographic hole. Therefore, this is the golden generation with whom we should rebuild the country, with whom we should work,» he said.

It will be recalled that over the past two months, 98% of summonses were sent to men who do not officially work and do not pay taxes.
