The statement was published by «Interfax».
«We are open to dialogue with the new US administration on the Ukrainian conflict. The most important thing here is to address the root causes of the crisis», he said.
According to him, the settlement of the war he unleashed should provide for «long-term peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all people, all nations living in the region».
Putin congratulated Donald Trump on taking office as US president, noting that he was ready to resume direct contacts with the United States.
