Uninterruptible power supply units will be connected to traffic lights at busy Mykolaiv intersections so that they work even during power outages.
Such traffic lights are currently operating in three areas of the city, Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych said on August 1 during his live broadcast on social networks, NikVesti writes.
«We are currently installing new traffic lights, that is, we are connecting uninterruptible power supply units to them. We already have such at such busy intersections as Pushkinska — Velyka Morska, Pushkinska — Nikolska, as well as on the ring road on Sadova Street. They work for a very long time even during blackouts, even when there is no light,» he said.
Additional traffic lights will soon be installed at all busy Mykolaiv intersections, the mayor says.
«At the last session, we allocated additional funds in order to additionally connect traffic lights at all busy intersections. Therefore, the number of such traffic lights will increase in the near future,» added Oleksandr Sienkevych.
It was previously reported that new traffic lights will be installed at two intersections in Mykolaiv. One is in the city center, the other is in the Lisky neighborhood. And for 2023, a total of 64 new traffic lights were installed in the city. New sound warning devices were installed at 8 traffic lights.
