The Mykolaiv Zoo was added to the «Available Water» program. It will receive funds from the city budget for maintenance and repairs of water treatment systems.

The corresponding draft decision was adopted by the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council.

We will remind that the deputies of the Mykolaiv City Council adopted the «Available Water» program for the second time, for which they plan to allocate 37.6 million hryvnias from the budget in 2023. These funds will be used to maintain reverse osmosis stations, of which there are 145 in Mykolaiv today.

Also, by decision of the session, four district administrations of the city of Mykolaiv were included in the program executors.

Now the «Mykolaiv Zoo» has been added to the joint performers, on the territory of which there are two wells and a reverse osmosis system. The water from the wells is conditionally potable, but needs additional treatment. For this purpose, in October 2022,  UNICEF Ukraine provided the zoo with a water purification station. The zoo uses water for its own needs, there are no points for issuing purified water to the population on its territory.

It was previously reported that the water under the «Available Water» program, for the maintenance of which 37 million hryvnias are planned to be spent from the budget of Mykolaiv this year, is not potable.

We remind, earlier the secretary of the Mykolaiv city council Dmytro Falko said that in Mykolaiv after the war, the City Council plans to create a communal enterprise that will take care of the purified water supply points, will service them and sell water to the population. At the same time, the cost of a liter of water, according to preliminary calculations, can be 20 kopiyok.
