A special installation for shredding demolition waste in Kharkiv

The Department of Housing and Communal Services of Mykolaiv reported that by the end of 2023, the city should receive a special installation for shredding demolition waste.

This is stated in the article «Eco-development of the south: where does the waste of destruction disappear and what is the useful example of Kharkiv», writes NikVesti.

— Now we work with donor organizations. Today there are two of them: UNDP and USAID are ready to provide us with equipment for crushing waste from destruction. Within a month, judging by everything, we will still receive this installation for the re-processing of such waste, said Deputy Director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services Ihor Nabatov.

This installation will be enough to shred all the construction waste generated today in Mykolaiv, he added.

Today, Kharkiv works according to this principle. Even before the war, the city purchased a special shredder and used it to process «classic» garbage, but because of the war, this work changed somewhat.

Since the destruction waste has large dimensions, a hydraulic hammer is used before grinding. Large globs are broken into several parts and after that they are already loaded into the shredder. It reduces the volume of waste by five to eight times. Thus, piles of waste are turned into building materials, which can then be used to make fresh concrete.

We remind, as of the end of November, 57 hectares of the territory of the Mykolaiv region were littered with construction debris created as a result of shelling.
