The IAEA will increase its presence at key infrastructure facilities in Ukraine to strengthen NPP safety control.

This was reported by the press service of Energoatom.

A group of IAEA experts has already visited one of the electrical substations, which directly affects the safety and stability of the NPP. The substation was recently damaged as a result of Russia's massive rocket attack on civilian infrastructure.

IAEA experts, together with representatives of Energoatom, Ukrenergo, and Derzhatomrehuliuvaniia, inspected the facility and documented the damage the substation received as a result of missile attacks.

In the future, the monitoring missions of the Agency will be present at the safety-critical nuclear installations of electric substations.

«The Russians have changed their tactics and are attacking objects that are extremely important for the uninterrupted operation of our nuclear power plants. The occupiers pose a threat to nuclear and radiation security, and this is true terrorism against humanity. The entire civilized world should strongly condemn these actions and demand an end to attacks on substations,» commented the head of Energoatom Petro Kotin.

We will remind you that during the missile and drone attack on August 26, Russia planned to disrupt the operation of the country's nuclear power plants.

In particular, on the morning of the day of the shelling, units №1, 3, and 4 of the Rivne NPP were de-energized and disconnected from the network, and the capacity of the South Ukraine NPP was also reduced. In the evening of the same day, due to fluctuations in the power system, unit №3 of the South Ukraine NPP was disconnected.
