Mykolaiv Emergency Hospital has installed modern medical equipment for neurosurgery and urology. Three of the four devices were purchased at the expense of the city budget in 2024.
According to the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council, these are an operating microscope, a digital radiographic system, a bipolar resectoscope and a system for biportal spinal neurosurgery.
«The city purchased a stand for minimally invasive neurosurgery. In addition, a microscope was purchased at the expense of the state budget, which is now used by neurosurgeons in almost every operation», said Iryna Shamrai, head of the health department.
According to Oleksandr Demianov, head of the emergency hospital, the new equipment allows for minimally invasive surgeries, after which patients recover quickly.
«For example, the urological intervention device allows us to keep a patient for a week and then let him or her go home, but to solve the patient's problems in a short time, within two to three days. We can also now perform surgeries through minimally invasive approaches, the so-called biportal neurosurgery. It means that only 2-3 stitches remain on the patient's body and after the operation, the patient can go home and have bandages done on an outpatient basis or in the department at a convenient time,» he said.
Earlier it was reported that in Mykolaiv, at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at City Hospital №4, specialists perform complex reconstructive surgeries, including for patients with mine-blast injuries.
