Ukraine deploys F-16 fighters and Mirage-2000 for the first time to repel Russian missile attack

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, F-16s and French Mirage-2000s were deployed to protect Ukrainian skies today.
«In particular, «Mirage» successfully worked against Russian cruise missiles. Thank you! I would also like to thank our anti-aircraft missile troops, army aviation, all our electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups for the result,» the post reads.
Zelenskyy stressed that the first steps to establish real peace should be to force Russia to stop missile and drone attacks.
«It is possible to control this. Silence in the sky — a ban on the use of missiles, long-range drones and bombs. And also silence at sea — a real guarantee of normal navigation. Ukraine is ready to go the way of peace, and it is Ukraine that wants peace from the very first second of this war. The task is to force Russia to stop the war», he added.
As a reminder, in February 2025, the first French Mirage 2000 fighter jets arrived in Ukraine. The planes are flown by Ukrainian pilots who have undergone several months of training in France.
