Mykolaivoblenergo has denied that searches took place, stating that investigative activities were carried out outside the company’s premises. Photo from open sourcesMykolaivoblenergo has denied reports that searches were carried out on the company’s premises on 1 April.
This is stated in an official response to a comment by NikVesti.
The company maintains that no investigative actions, including searches, were carried out on the premises of the Mykolaiv Regional Electricity Distribution Company at 94A Pohranychna Street the previous day.
At the same time, the regional power company noted that law enforcement officers had searched a private vehicle parked in an open car park outside the REM premises. They confirmed that the car belongs to one of the company’s employees.
Furthermore, Mykolaivoblenergo emphasised that whether the employee’s actions constitute a criminal offence must be determined by the investigation within the framework of criminal proceedings.
It should be noted that news of the searches at the company emerged on the evening of 1 April. As NikVesti has learned, the searches were linked to alleged extortion of money from a business owner.
This concerns a situation involving the owner of one of the hostels in the city. According to preliminary information, a representative of the energy company offered to help the entrepreneur avoid a tariff recalculation in exchange for a bribe of 74,000 hryvnias. Furthermore, according to sources, the businessman was offered ongoing support and assistance with resolving any potential issues in the future. Otherwise, his tariff could have been changed, which would have affected the establishment’s operations.
It should also be recalled that back in the summer of 2025, a search was carried out at JSC Mykolaivoblenergo as part of criminal proceedings concerning the possible embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the reconstruction of power grids.
