In Mykolaiv, cemetery cleaning will be stepped up ahead of the days of remembrance. Archive photo NikVestiIn Mykolaiv, municipal services will step up cleaning at cemeteries ahead of remembrance days to ensure that piles of green waste are not left behind after visits to graves.
This was announced by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during an open staff meeting on Monday, 6 April, according to NikVesti.
According to him, in the near future, residents will be cleaning their relatives’ graves en masse and depositing plant waste within the cemetery grounds.
Oleksandr Sienkevych noted that both municipal workers and contractors will be involved in the work.
«People will now be tidying up the graves of their loved ones. And they will be depositing green waste within the cemetery grounds. Our municipal services will be working on this, utilising their own staff and contractors. I ask those responsible for sanitation to monitor this, to ensure that people are not met by mountains of rubbish,» the mayor added.
We would like to remind you that in Mykolaiv, during the period of remembrance from 1 to 30 April, additional transport will be organised to take residents to the city cemetery.
