In Ochakiv, around 65% of the centralised water supply and drainage networks remain in poor condition.
This is stated in the 2025 annual report of the municipal utility company «Ochakiv-Service», published on the Ochakiv City Council website.
It is noted that during 2025, following reports from residents, 155 incidents were recorded on the city’s water supply networks and a further 263 on the sewerage networks.
«The issue of properties abandoned by their owners, whose networks were damaged as a result of shelling of the city, remains pressing. In order to minimise network losses and ensure consumers receive an uninterrupted supply of centralised water and sewerage services, the company was forced, as in 2024, to carry out repairs on damaged sections in private homes,» the report states.
Over the course of the year, the company repaired 4,815 metres of water supply networks and 187 metres of sewerage networks. Over 6.4 million hryvnias were allocated to the restoration of fixed assets.
The report also states that in 2025, two large-scale projects for the major repair of water mains were implemented in Ochakiv with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The total cost of the works exceeded 17.5 million hryvnias.
In particular, the water main on 8 Bereznia Street, stretching 1,192 metres, was completely overhauled, as were the networks on Suvorova, Spaska, Yuvileina and Myru Streets, with a total length of 1,988 metres.
The municipal enterprise «Ochakiv-Service» notes that cooperation with international partners and financial support from the local budget are enabling the gradual restoration of critically important infrastructure; however, the deterioration of the networks remains one of the main problems facing the city’s utilities.
It should be noted that over the past year, Ochakiv spent more than 5.8 million hryvnias on road repairs and maintenance.
It was also reported that in the Ochakiv urban community, the death rate has been 3–4 times higher than the birth rate in recent years.
As of October 2025, around 7,500 people lived in Ochakiv. This is half the pre-war population.
Due to shelling, 70% of the city’s buildings have been destroyed or damaged: private houses, high-rise buildings and infrastructure facilities.
