Mykolaiv Oblast became the leader in terms of the number of equipped fortifications.

This was announced by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, in an interview for the «News Factory» YouTube channel, NikVesti reports.

In the interview, the presenter asked questions about the state of defense lines in Mykolaiv Oblast in the context of the difficult situation in Kharkiv Oblast. She noted that there were doubts in the media and among the military about the availability of sufficient defense lines and asked whether similar questions would arise if Russia again tried to attack other regions of Ukraine, in particular the Mykolaiv region.

Vitalii Kim noted that Mykolaiv region is in the second echelon in terms of attack risks, but at the same time it is the first in terms of the pace of completion of fortification tasks.

«We are the leaders in the execution of fortification structures, so there will be no questions for us. In principle, we are already ready to fight there, but this will not happen, but for now all the boundaries are ready,» said Vitalii Kim.

We will remind that in April 2024, the government allocated an additional 5.6 billion hryvnias for the construction of fortifications in Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and Kherson regions.

According to the government, from the beginning of 2024, almost 38 billion hryvnias were allocated from the state budget to strengthen the defense lines.

According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, work on the arrangement of fortification defense lines is carried out practically continuously, but the biggest problem now remains enemy drones. It is noted that the defense lines are arranged by both military and civilian workers.

In addition, the head of the Strategic Communications Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, told that fortifications are being created not only in the Mykolaiv region, but also in other regions of the south in case of unforeseen circumstances: «Yes, of course, a fortification somewhere in area, for example, between Mykolaiv and Odesa, in the fields. And, of course, the question may arise, what is going on? Are we already waiting for the enemy on the Odesa highway? In fact, what is planned and should have happened is happening.»
