F-16 fighter. Photo from open sources.The first group of Ukrainian pilots completed training on modern F-16 fighters at the American military base in Arizona.
This was stated by the spokeswoman of the US Air National Guard, Erin Hannigan, Politico reports.
It is noted that the pilots were trained at the 162nd Air National Guard Air Base in Tucson. Hannigan did not say exactly how many pilots graduated, «out of an abundance of caution for their safety.»
The pilots are currently headed to Europe for additional training, a source told Politico.
As the spokeswoman reported, this is a decisive step before the appearance of modern American-made fighter jets in the sky of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that some Ukrainian pilots are completing the training process on American F-16 fighter jets. After arriving in Ukraine, they will be able to begin combat missions almost immediately.
