oblast in central Ukraine

Poltava Oblast is a region in central Ukraine. It is home to gas production sites of Naftogaz and energy infrastructure that Russia regularly attacks with missiles and drones.

In May 2026 Russian forces struck a gas production facility in the region and then hit the site again when rescuers arrived to fight the fire, killing rescuers and civilians. In October 2026 another Naftogaz gas production facility had to suspend work after an attack. In December 2025 a massive strike on the energy system left districts of the region with water and heating outages. The region has also recorded several small earthquakes.

MykVisti covers Russian attacks on Poltava Oblast, their impact on energy and gas production, earthquakes, high-profile crimes and court cases.
