state enterprise that manages Ukraine’s forests

Forests of Ukraine is a state-owned specialised enterprise that plants new forests, fights forest fires and sets up recreation areas in the woods. In Mykolaiv Oblast it works through its branch, the Southern Forest Office. According to 2023 data, more than 4,700 hectares of forest burned in the region because of the war, and the damage to the environment was put at ₴22.4 billion. Foresters are restoring the burned areas: in 2026 they plan to plant about 5.3 million seedlings of trees and shrubs in the region, and in Halytsynove they are replanting a forest where over 150 hectares burned down. The enterprise also builds Lisovychok recreation sites with gazebos and barbecues and has created the first cycling route through the Trykraty forest.

MykVisti covers tree planting, forest fires, tenders for recreation areas and hunting grounds.
