The Temporarily Occupied Territories

The Temporarily Occupied Territories (TOT) are areas of Ukraine's sovereign territory currently under foreign military control without the legitimate consent of the Ukrainian government. At present, TOT includes certain regions of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, as well as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The occupation of these territories has led to significant human rights violations, restrictions on freedoms, and infrastructure destruction. The Ukrainian state and the international community do not recognize the legitimacy of these actions, and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are gathering evidence of crimes committed in these areas for future investigation. This section provides news, analysis, and research on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories, the state of human rights, the impacts of occupation, and efforts to restore sovereignty.
