POWs

Prisoners of war (POWs) are individuals captured by the enemy during armed conflict, belonging to the military forces or support structures of a warring party. Under international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions, POWs are entitled to humane treatment, medical care, and communication with their families. The issue of exchanging and repatriating POWs is a significant topic for Ukraine in the context of the war, especially regarding the protection of rights and safety for soldiers taken captive. This section provides news, analysis, and information on exchange processes, conditions of detention, and support for POWs.
