Car arson refers to crimes involving the intentional burning of vehicles. In Ukraine, such incidents have increased during the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. According to law enforcement agencies, some of these acts were orchestrated by Russian intelligence services, recruiting teenagers via social media and messaging apps.
Teenagers were offered monetary rewards for setting fire to cars belonging to military personnel or vehicles bearing Ukrainian Armed Forces symbols. The primary goal of these actions was to instill fear and destabilize the internal situation in the country.
Reported cases have occurred in cities such as Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv. For example, in Odesa, a group of teenagers aged 13 to 18 was detained for committing multiple arsons. Police emphasize the importance of preventing such incidents and urge parents to monitor their children's online activities.
