Car arson is the crime of deliberately setting a vehicle on fire. In Ukraine, part of these attacks are organised by Russian special services, which pay teenagers and young people to burn cars used by the military. In 2024, 352 military vehicles were set on fire across Ukraine, and the Odesa region recorded 82 arson attacks, most of them ordered by Russia. Other cases grow out of quarrels between neighbours, debts or revenge.
