Ukrainian government ministry for schools and universities

Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MES) is in charge of schools, universities and research: it licenses educational institutions, approves curricula and runs university admissions.

In November 2024, after an unscheduled inspection, the ministry revoked the licence of Mykolaiv Polytechnic university. In May 2026 a deputy education minister said there were no plans to restructure the three universities in Mykolaiv. In summer 2026 the ministry denied that state-funded places would be kept only for medics, teachers and the military.

MykVisti covers how ministry decisions affect schools and universities in Mykolaiv Oblast: admissions, textbooks, school safety projects and plans to merge universities in Odesa.
