Blood donation

Blood donation is a vital part of the healthcare system, helping save the lives of patients who need blood transfusions and its components. In Mykolaiv, the main facility responsible for collecting and processing donated blood is the Mykolaiv Regional Blood Transfusion Station, located at 2 Radio Lane, Mykolaiv.

To become a donor, one must meet certain medical criteria: be between 18 and 60 years old, weigh over 50 kg, and have no contraindications. Before donating blood, donors undergo a medical examination.

Preparation for donation includes avoiding alcohol 48 hours before the procedure, refraining from fatty foods, getting enough sleep, and having a light breakfast. After donating blood, donors receive a certificate for an additional day of rest. Blood donation not only helps others but also positively affects the donor's health.
