ministry of Ukraine in charge of economic policy

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is the central government body responsible for economic policy, privatisation of state property, support for business and the labour market. It runs the National Cashback and eOselia programmes and has negotiated with the US on tariffs and minerals.

For Mykolaiv, the ministry's main topic is the privatisation of the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant. In May 2026 the ministry said the auction would be announced only when a real buyer appears, and the terms of sale would oblige the new owner to maintain the sludge storage facilities. According to the ministry, 355 small privatisation auctions held in Mykolaiv Oblast since the full-scale war began brought local budgets more than 209 million hryvnias.
