regional centre in western Ukraine

Ternopil is a city in western Ukraine and the administrative centre of Ternopil Oblast. On the night of 19 November 2025 a Russian missile hit an apartment block in the city, killing more than 30 people, including children. The building was so badly damaged that it will have to be demolished, and after the attack chlorine levels in the air were six times above the norm. Russia had struck Ternopil before: in August 2024 a fuel tank caught fire at an industrial site, and in December 2024 a drone hit a residential building.

MykVisti reports on the aftermath of Russian attacks on Ternopil and on notable events in the region, from the bribery sentence for former regional council head Mykhailo Holovko to mass bee deaths near Zbarazh.
