Ukrainian food safety and consumer protection authority

The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection is the Ukrainian authority that checks drinking water and food quality, monitors animal diseases and finds dangerous goods on sale.

In September 2026 the service began inspecting school meals in all schools of Mykolaiv. It has found water that fails to meet standards at free water points in the city and in rural communities, and recorded outbreaks of bird flu, African swine fever and rabies cases. In February 2026 it ordered a ₴2.6 million study of water and soil in Mykolaiv Oblast. In March 2026 it was reported that officials from one sector of the regional office would stand trial for extorting money from farmers.
