Illegal logging

Illegal logging is the unlawful destruction or damage of forest vegetation without authorization from relevant authorities, causing significant harm to the environment, economy, and biodiversity. In Ukraine, illegal logging is regulated by Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (CCU), which establishes penalties for such actions, including fines and imprisonment. Illegal logging often leads to soil degradation, disruption of natural water balance, and destruction of habitats for rare species. Combating illegal logging involves strengthening control measures, ecological monitoring, and active public engagement.
