The Netherlands will allocate 400 million euros for the joint development and production of drones with Ukraine.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Breckelmans, during his visit to Kharkiv, NOS reports.
According to the minister, half of the drones will be developed in the Netherlands, and the rest will be manufactured in Ukraine and other countries. Breckelmans also recalled that the Netherlands played an important role in the supply of F-16 aircraft and Patriot systems to Ukraine.
«Now we're continuing that with modern drones,» he noted.
The minister added that these drones can be used for various purposes: reconnaissance, defense and attacks, both in the air, on land and at sea. If the developed drones are successful, additional funds will be allocated to expand production.
We will remind you that the Joint-Stock Company «Ukrainian Defense Industry» concluded cooperation agreements with four Western arms companies.
It was previously reported that in 2025, Ukraine plans to significantly increase the production of its own weapons, including drones, long-range and ballistic missiles.
In February 2024, it became known that the largest European ammunition manufacturer Rheinmetall will open a new plant in Ukraine.
In addition, another factory of the German company Quantum-Systems GmbH, which specializes in the production of drones, was opened in Ukraine. It is planned to produce 1,000 drones per year, as well as to produce spare parts.
It was also reported in July of this year that Ukraine can produce more than three million drones a year. For this, the state has sufficient production capacity and cooperation with international partners.
