The contractor promises to roof the unfinished building of Lyceum №60 in the Varvarivka neighbourhood next month — in January 2026.

This was stated by Valentyn Haidarzhy, deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, during a press conference dedicated to the final work for 2025, NikVesti reports.

As you know, the unfinished building of the Varvarivka lyceum had to be roofed before the beginning of winter. The RMA hoped for help from the city budget, as the school is on the city's balance sheet. But they were told that there was no money for this.

As a result, the contractor now has to cover the roof of the unfinished building of the lyceum on its own, thus preserving the building, Valentyn Haidarzhy said.

«The contractor, having a valid contract, undertook to make the roof in order to preserve it,» he said.

Currently, the new lyceum building is only a third complete. 37.9 million hryvnias has already been spent on these works from the state budget, the RMA said earlier. But another 73.4 million hryvnias are needed to complete the construction of the new lyceum building.

Currently, Valentyn Haidarzhy says, another 10.9 million hryvnias has been allocated from the state budget to pay the contractor for the work already completed. He added that the Cabinet of Ministers also promised to allocate money for the construction of the building in 2026.

«This week, 10 million 900 thousand hryvnias was allocated for the 60th school to pay for the work performed. At a meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers, we were promised funding for two facilities (Lyceum №60 and Lyceum №2, — note) in 2026 from the recovery funds. We are waiting for it. But the first step has already been taken — for school №60. We have received the money, paid for it, and now we are waiting for the company to complete the promised work in January,» said Valentyn Haidarzhy.

Reconstruction of Lyceum №60

The school was destroyed in July 2022. The attack destroyed one of the lyceum's buildings and damaged the nearby playground.

In December 2023, the RMA's Urban Development Department announced a tender to rebuild the destroyed building of Lyceum №60 in Varvarivka. The contractor was «Construction Company «Interbud», which offered to carry out the work for 102.5 million hryvnias.

This year, the government has allocated 76.6 million hryvnias for the reconstruction of the school. The contractor began rebuilding the lyceum in the summer of 2024. The work is scheduled to be completed in August 2025.

According to the project, which was provided to NikVesti, a new three-storey building is planned to be built at the lyceum. On the ground floor, there will be a cloakroom, classrooms, a library reading room, a choreography room, bathrooms and utility rooms. On the second floor, there will be classrooms, the principal's office, bathrooms, physics and chembistry classrooms, a chemistry laboratory, a gym, a shell room, bathrooms and utility rooms. On the third floor, there will be a rehearsal room, assembly hall, locker room, teacher's room, resource room, biology classroom and laboratory, gymnasium, classrooms, bathrooms and utility rooms. The new building is also planned to have a lift.

It is worth noting that the school was the first object of the city's programme «Warm House». It was opened in autumn 2018 after renovation. It should be noted that the Russian Federation launched a missile attack on another building of the institution.
