Mykolaiv athletes won 367 medals in 2023

During 2023, athletes from the Mykolaiv region took 367 prize places in competitions of various levels.

The head of youth and sports department of Mykolayiv RMA Mykhailo Nikolaev told about this at the briefing.

«In total, our athletes won 367 medals of various types, at different levels of competitions: from all-Ukrainian to regional and including world championships in Olympic and non-Olympic sports,» he said.

Mykhailo Nikolaev noted that Mykolaiv athletes perform at all levels, from student to veteran.

«We sent many teams to championships of Ukraine specifically in veteran sports, and our two athletes were prize winners at the world «Games of the Invincibles» as well,» said the head of the department.

He also emphasized that in 2024, two athletes from Mykolaiv have a chance to receive Olympic licenses.

«Konovalov Danylo, who won the «European Games — III» in 2023, and Alina Poloziuk, who is the leader of the All-Ukrainian fencing rating,» noted Mykhailo Nikolaev.

We will remind you that two sportswomen in the Mykolayiv region became ambassadors of the «All-Ukrainian school leagues side by side» project — Ruslana Kuzikova and Alina Poloziuk.

It should be noted that Alina Poloziuk won the championship at the Cup of Ukraine in rapier fencing, which was held in Lviv on January 27, 2023.

Also in October 2023, Alina Poloziuk won gold at the Satellite series tournament in Istanbul, Turkey. For the 21-year-old female fencer, this is the first victory at a competition of this level.

Earlier, weightlifter Ruslana Kuzikova won a silver medal at the European Championship, which was held from July 26 to August 3 in Bucharest.

In turn, Mykolaiv champion Danylo Konovalov received a monetary reward for sports victories. It is noted that the reward is one hundred thousand hryvnias.
