— We see seasonal fires, if in summer we have open areas of the ecosystem, then in winter — housing. If we speak in numbers, 648 fires occurred in the Mykolayiv region during 2023, specifically in the private residential sector and high-rise buildings. 42 people died, she said.
During the autumn period, namely October-November 2023, there were 109 fires in the residential sector in the Mykolaiv region. Because of this, 6 people died. The most common causes of ignition are smoking in bed and electrical shorting.
— In October, 53 fires were registered in our homes, 2 people died, and the largest number of them were due to smoking in bed and short circuits in the electrical network. In November, there were 56 fires, 4 people died, three due to smoking and one due to a power outage. If we speak in general, the reasons that lead to such fires in the vast majority are smoking — 213 (during the year, — note), short circuit — 239, violation of fire safety rules during the operation of furnaces — 103, the spokeswoman said.
Earlier it was reported that in Mykolaiv and the region with the onset of cold weather, the number of fires in the residential sector increased. The number of such fires from the total number of fires during the year is 20%.
