Statistics is the science of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. It studies mass phenomena and processes, identifying patterns and relationships in their development. Statistics is applied in various fields, such as economics, sociology, medicine, and others, to make informed decisions based on objective data.

The Main Department of Statistics (MDS) is a territorial body of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, implementing state policy in the field of statistics at the regional level. The main functions of the MDS include:

  • Data collection and processing: conducting state statistical surveys and polls to obtain up-to-date information on the socio-economic condition of the region.

  • Analysis and summarization of information: processing collected data to identify trends and patterns in the region's development.

  • Dissemination of statistical information: providing access to statistical data for authorities, enterprises, and the public to make informed decisions.

  • Methodological support: developing and implementing data collection and processing methodologies in accordance with international standards.

The MDS ensures transparency and reliability of statistical information, contributing to effective management and development of the region.
