Road accident in the center of Mykolaiv: the victim is in a coma, relatives say that the driver has not yet been arrested

Law enforcement agencies have not yet arrested the perpetrators of the traffic accident in the center of Mykolaiv, in which a girl was injured. She is currently in a coma.

As you know, on Sunday, December 24, on the Pushkinske Ring in Mykolaiv, a Mazda CX-7 car drove off the roadway, crashed into a pole and hit a 19-year-old pedestrian girl.

There were 27- and 28-year-old servicemen in the car, both of them did not admit who was driving. After a medical examination, the 27-year-old was found to have 1.2 ppm of alcohol in his blood, while the 28-year-old had 1.4 ppm of alcohol.

«On Sunday, December 24, my cousin was involved in a terrible car accident, as a result of which she is currently in intensive care. The accident occurred in Mykolaiv on Pushkinsky Ring. The girl was crossing the road to get into a taxi and two drunken men hit her and ended up driving into a pharmacy. After the crime, they are still at large. Due to the fact that, according to them, a third person was behind the wheel (came from somewhere). And after a medical examination, 1.2 ppm of alcohol was found in the blood of the 27-year-old, and 1.4 ppm of alcohol in the 28-year-old. I ask you to spread the word as much as possible, because I believe that people who committed such a crime should be punished fairly,» said the victim's sister.

Commenting on the accident, Serhii Makhno, head of the National Police Department in the Mykolaiv region, said that immediately after receiving information about the incident, an investigative and operative group was formed and went to the scene. Experts inspected the scene of the accident, took statements from all participants and witnesses, and removed the vehicle and relevant debris for detailed examinations.

«Resonant traffic accident. To a certain extent, it has gained public resonance, so it is under my personal control. The vehicle and the corresponding debris were removed from the scene after the traffic accident. I can mention the persons who were in the car, that they are military personnel, and both were in a state of alcohol intoxication. The behavior of one or another person, that they do not provide assistance to the victims, is of course surprising. Especially since the military shot a young girl at such a time — it is not humane. But this is beyond the competence of the police. The only thing I can say is that the crime is being actively and aggressively investigated, all the necessary examinations have been appointed and are being carried out,» Serhii Makhno summarized.

It was previously reported that recently at the intersection of Tsentralna and Khliborobiv streets in the city of Nova Odesa, Mykolaiv district, a 50-year-old driver of a VAZ 21020 hit a pedestrian who was crossing a previously unlit part of the road in a place not designated for crossing.
