President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the death of Ukrainian journalist Victoriia Roshchyna in Russian captivity.
«For all of us in Ukraine, everything related to captured and deported people remains extremely painful issues. These are adults and children, many civilians who are currently in prisons and camps in Russia. Yesterday it became known that Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna died in captivity in Russia,» the head of state noted.
According to Zelenskyy, for many Ukrainian journalists who knew Victoriia, her death was a real blow.
The President of Ukraine noted that there are still many journalists, public figures, community leaders and ordinary people who were captured during the Russian occupation.
It will be recalled that Victoriia Roshchyna was at the front from the beginning of the full-scale invasion. On March 16, 2022, it became known about her detention by representatives of the Russian Federal Security Service, when she was in occupied Berdiansk. On March 22, the Russian military released her from captivity, forcing her to record a video in which she refuted all claims against the Russian special services.
Subsequently, on July 27, 2023, Roshchyna left Ukraine for Poland and was supposed to reach the occupied territories in the east of Ukraine (through Russia), from where she worked on the report. Viktoriia Roshchyna stopped contacting her relatives on August 3, 2023.
