Since the beginning of the full-scale war in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine, the detonation of ammunition has claimed the lives of 311 people. A total of 1,052 people were blown up by explosive devices, 741 of them were injured.

These data were announced by Oleksandr Riabtsev, a representative of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety.

According to him, the main cause of the accidents was careless handling of explosive objects — 221 victims. There were also 188 incidents during agricultural work, 145 during travel, and 123 during household chores.

Oleksandr Riabtsev noted that 75% of cases were caused by mines. In addition, new threats to civilians have appeared due to the dropping of anti-personnel mines of the «Petal» type from Russian drones in the frontline areas.

The Ministry of Defense reminded that according to approximate estimates, up to 20% of shells and other ammunition in the combat zone do not work. About a fifth of the country's territory now needs to be cleared of unexploded ordnance.

We will remind, in the village of Sahaidachne, Kherson region, a tractor driver was injured as a result of the detonation of explosives.

Earlier, a resident of Davydiv Brid was blown up by Russian explosives during road works.

In addition, a resident of the village of Antonivka, Kherson region, stepped on an unknown object, which detonated as a result.

As reported, a tractor detonated on the territory of the Pervomaisk community.

We will remind that a resident of the village of Myrne, Shevchenkove community, Mykolaiv region, was blown up as a result of the detonation of ammunition — the farmer was hospitalized with injuries.

It was reported that on March 12, 2024, an interactive safety class was opened on the basis of the Department of State Emergency Services in the Mykolaiv region, where children will be taught the rules of handling explosive objects.
