The police identified and declared Russian lieutenant colonel Maksym Uvarov a suspect, who during the occupation of the Snihurivka district abused civilians, forcing them to cooperate with Russian military personnel.

The text of the suspicion dated November 5 was published on the website of the General Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, during the occupation of the village of Yevhenivka, the commander of the 2nd battalion of the 205th separate motorized rifle Cossack brigade, Maksym Uvarov, together with other military personnel of the Russian Federation, controlled the settlement.

They placed military equipment in the village, used the property of local residents, communicated with them, intimidated them and threatened them with physical violence, controlled their movement and conducted raids on local houses.

On May 30, 2022, Uvarov, along with an unspecified military serviceman, arrived at the residence of Olena Hryhorenko. They entered the territory of her house and forced the woman to give them her mobile phone with threats.

After that, they began questioning the woman about her possible affiliation with the Armed Forces and about her son's service. Intimidatingly, they took the woman to a village in the Kherson region with a bag on her head, simulated moving through a minefield and kept her in a dugout.

When the woman was brought outside, the soldiers poured diesel fuel on her legs and the ground beneath her and threatened to set her on fire. Maksym Uvarov, watching this, offered to film how the «ukrop's mother» would burn (ukrop (literally «dill») — derogatory name of Ukrainians, — note).

The same evening, the Russian military put Hryhorenko in a car and took her to the district police department in Snihurivka, where she was held until June 4, 2022.

Note that Maksym Uvarov was awarded the Order of Courage in 2022 for his participation in the «SVO» (The «special military operation» is a euphemism used by Russian authorities to refer to the invasion of Ukraine in 2022, — note).

We will remind you that the Snihurivka district court sentenced a resident of the village to 7 years in prison, who, during the occupation by Russian troops, assumed the position of the so-called «head of the Vasylivka village council.»
