In Kherson, a local resident who organized the collection of money for the occupation authorities was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

This is reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

It is noted that in May 2022, the convict worked in the position of «first deputy chairman of the board of the Kherson Regional Union of Consumer Societies.»

«He organized the monthly collection of money from local retail businesses to transfer the accumulated amounts to the 'governor' of the region,» the report says.

From June to November 2022, the man handed over at least 5 million rubles to the occupation administration.

The convict also forced entrepreneurs to register under the legislation of the Russian Federation and switch to payments in rubles. In particular, he called on producers of agricultural products to sell them in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and in Russia.
