The target is our energy: Zelenskyy on the new wave of strikes by the Russian Federation

Today, November 28, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine's energy sector. In several regions, Kalibr strikes with cluster munitions were recorded specifically on civilian infrastructure.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

«From the morning, there were already reports of the commander of the Air Force, the ministers of internal affairs and energy on the consequences of the Russian strike. The target is our energy sector. In total, about 100 attack drones, more than 90 missiles of various types. In several regions, «caliber» strikes with cluster munitions were recorded, specifically on civilian infrastructure. These cluster parts make it much more difficult for our rescuers and energy workers to eliminate the consequences of the impact, and this is a very vile escalation of Russian terrorist tactics,» he noted.

Zelenskyy also noted that the necessary resources have been mobilized in all the affected regions, energy companies are working, and points of invincibility have been deployed for the population.

The President called on partners to increase the supply of air defense systems, which are key to protecting critical infrastructure, especially in winter.

«Each such attack proves that air defense systems are needed now in Ukraine, where they save lives, not at storage bases. This is especially important in the winter, when we have to protect our infrastructure from targeted Russian strikes. We are constantly working with partners to have more power for defense, and timely delivery now and full implementation of agreements, in particular regarding air defense, is what is most needed,» Zelenskyy is convinced.

Shelling of the energy industry on November 28

In the morning of November 28, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with missiles and attack drones. Explosions rang out in several regions, in particular — in the Mykolaiv region.

Due to this, emergency power cuts were introduced in the region. Emergency workers reported disruptions on special lines «101» and «112» in the Mykolaiv region.

At the same time, trolleybuses and trams do not run in Mykolaiv, and «Mykolaivpastrans» released an additional number of buses №91.

On the railway, sections of the railway have been de-energized due to shelling by the Russians — some trains are moving with a delay.
