There are currently 7.7 million Ukrainian citizens abroad, of which 5.3 million live in the countries of the European Union.
As reported by Oleksii Honcharenko, a member of the European Solidarity Party, such data is provided in the report of the temporary special commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the protection of the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
«There are currently 7.7 million Ukrainians abroad. Of these, 5.3 million are in the EU. Such data from Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad was presented today in the Council in the TRC report on the protection of the rights of IDPs,» he wrote.
As a reminder, Slovakia has adopted amendments to immigration laws that reduce state support for Ukrainian refugees from March 1, 2025. In particular, Ukrainians who received refugee status after February 28, 2025, will be able to stay in shelters for only 60 days, instead of the current 120. Also, housing assistance will be limited to only the first 60 days, unlike the 120 days that have been in effect since July 2023.
