Law enforcement officers, together with border guards, have detained a suspect in organizing an illegal scheme to transport men to Romania. During the search, an arsenal of weapons, explosives, and fake documents were seized from him.
In early December, operatives of the border detachment detained three men who confessed to paying the organizer 10,000 euros each for illegal transportation to a neighboring country.
Currently, law enforcement officials have identified the location of the suspected organizer and conducted an authorized search. During which they confiscated from him 2 carbines with magazines, 570 rounds for them, 2 pistols with magazines and about 300 rounds for them. Also seized were 4 RGD-5 grenades, 1 F-1 grenade, a smoke grenade, 7 fuses for grenades and 7 detonators, 6 lines for remote electrical detonation of explosive devices, a radio station, 2 UAVs, and money.
The suspect was also found to have clothing with the insignia of the National Police and the SBU, as well as forged certificates that he presumably used to transport "clients" to the border. In addition, 2 cars were seized.
The man has been informed of the suspicion of illegal transportation of people across the state border. In the course of the investigation, information about the illegal handling of weapons has also been entered into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations.
The court has imposed pre-trial detention on the suspect with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 1.2 million hryvnias. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, it was reported that law enforcement officials suspect a resident of Odessa of organizing a scheme to transport men across the border under the guise of being a parent of multiple children. She faces up to nine years in prison.
