A 34-year-old local resident suspected of directing Russian strikes on the city and recording missile hits was detained in Kherson. He faces life imprisonment.
He cooperated with the Russians through a special chatbot of Russian intelligence, the Security Service of Ukraine said.
According to the case file, he wrote to the Russians himself and offered to cooperate for money. After the shelling, he would go to the site of the hit and send the Russians the location coordinates and data on the extent of the damage and casualties.
During reconnaissance raids around the city, the man simultaneously monitored the locations of the Defence Forces and the approximate number of personnel at their deployment sites. First of all, it concerned the locations of checkpoints and strongholds of Ukrainian defenders on the coastal territory of the city, the SSU noted.
The man was detained and notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). He is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Also, a 39-year-old paramedic from Odesa region, who is suspected of adjusting Russian strikes on one of the region's port cities, will stand trial. He faces life in prison with confiscation of property on charges of treason.
