A significant increase in sabotage activity was recorded in Mykolaiv region during the year. The number of detected acts of sabotage increased from one in 2023 to 17 in 2024.
These data are provided by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office in its report on the results of its activities for 2024, according to NikVesti.
At the same time, law enforcement officials note that the total number of criminal offences against Ukraine's national security has decreased. In particular, the number of recorded high treason cases dropped from 30 to 18.
There are also fewer cases of collaboration — the data has decreased from 81 to 3.
We would like to remind you that recently an unknown object exploded on Pohranychna Street near a catering establishment in Mykolaiv. The explosion killed three servicemen of the Mine Action Centre. An investigation is currently underway under part 3 of Article 258 «Terrorist act».
It should be noted that for a long time, a wave of sabotage against law enforcement agencies has been recorded in Ukraine, when attackers use explosives.
Arson attacks on military vehicles on the instructions of FSS agents are also common. For this purpose, they involve minors in particular. Earlier, this was reported by Mykolaiv teenagers whose parents serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, two 16-year-old boys were detained on suspicion of setting fire to a police car near the administrative building of Mykolaiv police.
In total, in the first ten months of 2024, Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained 179 arsonists recruited by Russian special services.
Teenagers in Mykolaiv region were also involved in preparing sabotage on the railways. In December 2024, a court in Voznesensk sentenced a teenager to a suspended sentence for this case. He was promised $1,000 for setting fire to a railway relay cabinet.
